Some more pictures here from the latest batch of slide scans by the tireless Wade Boggs, my father-in-law.
Always when I encounter images like these I sense Timm's careful surrender to the nature of the moment. He is aware enough to handle all the particulars of camera management and image composition while keeping his eyes wide open to what is found in our world if we take the time and attention to look.
And given the range of discoveries -- from children at play to flowers up close to vistas serene and wild enough for any calendar -- it seems clear to me that Timm had become, in his last years, a child of nature, nuturing us in turn with what he found there.
Whatever he struggled with in town, on the job, in relationship, as a citizen of this country, etc., Timm was free when he gazed so nakedly and with great wonder upon the wide sea, the smile of a child, the luminous, luxurious depths of unfurled flowers. Thanks for sharing that world with us, Timm.
